Stephen Sondheim’s iconic musical Into the Woods follows our classic fairy tales beyond “happily ever after” and examines the consequences of reckless wishes and ambitions. It is currently in production at Miami University to be performed in the Gates-Abegglen Theater May 1-7 of 2026. As the scenic designer for the production, I am working to imagine a world where physical scenery combines with digital effects to create a one of a kind experience. By utilizing a physical forest structure inspired by gothic architecture to form a variety of distinct projections surfaces, the play can be grounded in theatrical tradition whilst coming to life with digital tools like projection mapping and motion capture to enhance the theatricality of the piece.
